Matías Dewey

I am a Privatdozent in the Institute of Sociology at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. I studied sociology in Argentina and received my PhD in Political Science from the University of Rostock, Germany. My main fields of research are economic and political sociology, and I have a particular interest in illegal markets and their relationship with governments and state structures. Previously, I worked at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies, where I wrote my habilitation, and at the GIGA Institute for Latin American Studies.

My book Making It at Any Cost: Aspirations and Politics in a Counterfeit Clothing Marketplace has been recently published by University of Texas Press.
