My research is focused on illegal markets and their relation to the state, and governments in urban contexts. After my PhD, I conducted a research project on the market for stolen vehicles and auto-parts in Buenos Aires and Mexico City. In the following years, my research has been centered on the marketplace for garments produced in sweatshops known as La Salada, in the Great Buenos Aires. My writings are about law enforcement in such social contexts, the political economy of illegality and, at a micro-sociological level, about the production of social order in outlawed economies.
